Iris Cornell, Ph.D., RN, HN-BC, MSI-BC

Iris is a registered professional nurse with a broad range of experiences from Critical Care, ED, PeriOperative, Recovery, HMO Coordinator, Oncology, Hospice, Home Care, and academia. She has practiced nursing for 34 years and holds a Ph.D. in Nursing Education.

She has certifications in Aromatherapy and Holistic & Integrative Health. She holds board certifications in Holistic Nursing and Meditation Specialist 1. For the last nine years, she has taught in many different nursing programs on ground and online: associates, bachelors, accelerated, and master’s level. Mentors doctoral students during their dissertation phase of their doctoral program. She also is a guest editor for a peer-reviewed journal. She belongs to the National Holistic Nurses Association, National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy, and the National League for Nurses. She is at present completing the certification process for nurse educator.

Iris teaches a complementary and integrative course to nursing students where she incorporates the evidenced based research to address stress. Her students learn the practices and are better able to support their clients to use these skills to reduce symptomology of tension. Groundings in evidenced based research promote appreciation how meditation contributes a mind-body connection to manage stress and anxiety. She also teaches meditation strategies for those seeking integrative methods of anxiety reduction.
